Rawalpindi College

Rawalpindi Medical College,also known as RMC, is located in Rawalpindi. RMC is a comprehensive, state-assisted institution of approximately 1200 students that offers a diverse set of academic programs. All academic programs of the college are accredited by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan and Pakistan Medical and Dental Council[citation needed]. The college offers medical education to undergraduate students.
History

Established in March 1974 at Faisalabad, the college was shifted to its present premises on Tipu Road in November the same year. The college has trained over 4500 doctors who have worked both at the national and international level. The institution is recognized by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council as well as by the General Medical Council of UK and is on the WHO list of medical schools[citation needed]. The college is affiliated with the newly formed University of Health Sciences located in Lahore, Pakistan[citation needed]. Rawalpindi Medical College is standing on the property of Gordon College (Rawalpindi).
Admission criteria

The students are enrolled by a centralized system which takes in account their scores in A-levels/FSc and in the entry test for the medical colleges in the Punjab province. Foreign students of Pakistani origin can apply after converting their transcripts at the IBCC office in Islamabad and applying to the Higher Education Commission. After completion of 5 years of study, students are granted the MBBS degree.
