Ankle Ligament Injury
FAQ by Louis Treachman
An ankle ligament injury occurs about 25,000
times a day in the US alone. You'll know it under it's commoner name : a
sprained ankle. With a ligament injury to the ankles, the ligaments have
either been torn or stretched beyond a healthy length. This usually
happens because a force is placed on the ankles during movement that cause
the ankle to twist in a bizarre way which causes the ligament damage. So,
presuming this has happened to you or a friend or family member, what do
you do?

Well, most people will tell you to rest and ice the injury. The problem
with ice is that it contains swelling for approximately two days. After
that, ice has not shown much clinical benefit, so it will not truly help
too much beyond those first forty-eight hours. As for rest, the body
definitely would like you to take it nice and easy after an injury. But
, most of the people think that suggests total rest and that is 100 pc
inaccurate. You need to actually work the ligaments in a controlled and
safe way to get the best healing results. Otherwise, scar tissue
develops and may cause all types of Problems down the line. By using the
right types of exercises and healing modalities at homee, you can ensure
your ligaments round the ankle joint fully heal.
Also, it has been my experience that if done properly , an ankle
ligament injury will heal much , much quicker with the right kind of
rehab. As an example, most of the people with a sprained ankle need 4-8
weeks to recover. And after one or two months, they are feeling pretty
good again. That may seem radical, but the body actually does reply to
the right sort of rehab as if it truly craves the process of recovery
over mere rest alone.
if you are wondering about the details involved with a great
rehabilitation program, I recommend the following :
1 ) make sure it does not involve braces or wraps. You are much, far
better off properly strengthening the ankles so they work how they
should work. Powerful, mobile ankles have no need for braces or wraps
and allow the body to function at its best, seriously lowering the risk
of injury.
There is no problem with all the stuff a physical specialist uses to
help the process of recovery, but you don't need it. 3 ) The rehab
should include exercises that go beyond just the process of recovery. It
was developed by an N.A.S.M. Certified trainer and i have used it
personally on myself and found it to be of amazing benefit. It is
difficult to find a program that works as it explains it does and yet is
easy enough for anyone to use and H.E.M. Does just that. I suggest it
highly for any one with an ankle ligament injury.
