Concrete Contractors

By: Ben Kaylor

Concrete contractors specialize in working with concrete. A legitimate contractor is licensed and certified to properly perform concrete projects. If you decide to hire a particular concrete company, be sure to ask for documentation of licenses and certification to protect yourself from fly-by-night companies who say they are licensed or certified but really are not. If particular promises from a company sounds too good to be true, 9 chances out of 10, it is. A reasonable contractor should be able to present documentation without question and should be able to answer any question you have with no hesitation or guessing.

Decorative Concrete can accent any outdoor or indoor decoration. There are many forms of decorative concrete such as, fountains, statues and bird baths. Fountains can turn ordinary decoration into elegance. Water flowing from a fountain can sound serene and provide therapeutic value for reducing stress. Statues such as gargoyles, animals or lawn jockeys can be a wonderful addition to fill the voids of your particular decoration. Bird baths are perfect for those who love to bird watch. Bird baths can attract colorful, elegant birds that you normally would not see with just an ordinary feeder.

Landscaping sometimes can seem like a never ending project. You can reduce the size of your repair and replacement project by simply adding concrete. As an example, instead of the traditional roll out plastic bed and landscape edging, try a three tiered concrete block wall around your flower beds. This will eliminate cracking and breaking from being bumped by a lawn mower, weed whacker or getting stepped on. In addition, this will also act as a retaining wall so flower bed dirt does not erode away. Concrete block comes in a wide array of colors and styles that are sure to fit your taste.

Retaining Walls are a popular addition to concrete projects especially if you live in an area that experiences flooding or if you live on a slope. Retaining walls have many uses such as around a pond to keep higher levels of water from flooding around areas you wish to keep dry. To keep back dirt or debris is also a common use especially if you live on a slope or you wish to contain dirt or sand. These walls are perfect for keeping elevated landscapes from eroding away. Concrete retaining walls will last longer and need little to no maintenance.
