Accident Claim

Accident claims - what do i do?   by Richard Williams

in Personal Injury

When you have been injured as a result of an accident it is vital that you are properly compensated for the losses caused by the guilty party. To make sure that you get the maximum payout that is owed to you, consulting a professional and experienced injury lawyer about your accident claim is essential. Such an individual will have valuable knowledge and as such will know approximately how much your claim may be worth. A claimant is entitled to claim for a variety of different things such as: * Lost wages * Damage to your vehicle/property etc. * Rental of a replacement vehicle * Hospital or specialist expenses

When deciding on someone to look after your case you should compare several of the many companies out there to find one which best suits you and that you feel confident in. Many UK accident claims firms offer what is known as a "no win no fee" agreement. With such an agreement you are not liable to pay any fees to the claims specialist if they are not successful with your case. Any fees will be claimed for in addition to your compensation if they are successful. There are also claim management companies that will find a lawyer on your behalf. In my opinion this adds an unnecessary level of complexity to making accident claims as more channels of communication are introduced. Directly approaching a solicitor to look after your case could speed up the whole process considerably.

After picking a suitable solicitor to handle your accident claim you will need to give them a detailed account of the events surrounding the accident so that they will have the best opportunity of securing a payout on your behalf. The following may strengthen your case against the guilty party: * Official accident report from a police officer * Contact information for anyone who witnessed the accident * Details of the accident location (including photos if possible) * Details of what your injuries were from your doctor * Photographs of any injuries that you sustained

Given the above information a trained accident claims lawyer ought to be able to estimate what sort of payout you should be looking to receive and give you a vague idea of how long the claim should take to complete.
